THIRTY-FORE: A Golf-Inspired Surprise Birthday Bash

I cannot believe we are already coming up on a year since I threw John a surprise thirty-FORE birthday party! I wanted to do something extra special for John’s birthday—something that reflected his love for golf, his personal style, and the playful yet elevated aesthetic we both love. The result? THIRTY-FORE! A surprise party inspired by his own brand, Rollers Golf Club, brought to life with custom details, fun activations, and a design-forward take on classic golf elements.

The Vision

Think: I wanted this to really embody my husband, and ofc his love for golf. We leaned into elevated country club style, blending dark greens, neutrals, vintage golf cues, and custom branding throughout the space from the bar setup at “The 19th Hole” to a full-blown Pro Shop-inspired merch wall as favors for our guests. The merch shop was everyone’s favorite (mine included) fully stocked with John’s favorite things.. Bad birdie polos, lucky golf balls & custom Rollers snapback hats.

The 19th Hole

Our signature bar setup was a vibe all its own. We served up cocktails like “John’s Drive,” a blood orange mojito, and “The Spicy Birdie” a jalapeño margarita with a kick and the “Clubhouse Cooler” a refreshing twist on a Paloma. The back bar was dressed in a custom cabana-striped vinyl wrap, tying into the club aesthetic while adding a bold, branded design moment.

The Swing Zone

This interactive corner of the party featured a golf simulator and mini golf course where guests could test their swing and enjoy a little friendly competition. It also housed the Rollers Photo Booth (hand-built by John!), a custom “Caddy Shack” station where guests picked up personalized scorecards and putters, and a curated cigar lounge where they could kick back between holes. It quickly became the heart of the party.

The Cigar Lounge

Tucked within the Swing Zone, this laidback setup featured personalized “Rollers Cigar Club” cigars, lounge seating, and that classic country club vibe. It was the perfect place to kick back post-putt and soak in the scene

The Cabana Club

Off to the side of the main party was a must have for a hot summer night—the Cabana Club. This poolside escape channeled vacation energy with thoughtful details and a fresh take on summer lounging.

A curated set of pool floats and a floating bar tray brought the luxury leisure vibes full circle. Whether guests wanted to jump in or just lounge and sip poolside, this area was built for relaxed fun.

A custom Rollers Golf Club mural, painted by @scribble.and.script, brought John’s logo to life. Complete with a martini glass golf ball and straw detail. It made for the perfect poolside photo backdrop.

Striped green + white towels were rolled and displayed alongside a basket filled with sunscreen, mini claw clips, and other grab-and-go amenities for guests.

His Face Says It All

It was SO fun celebrating my husband the best way I know how.. but I do not plan on doing a surprise party anytime in the near future! That definitely added a level of stress I DID NOT NEED!! But if you were considering doing a thirty-FORE or a FORE-TEE birthday party for your golf lover, here is your sign!!! 😉
