How To Host A Housewarming Party + DIY Cocktail Bar How To

I had so much fun planning My and John’s house warming party & I’m so eager to share some of our party must haves that truly made this event POP!

Address Book in the entry way!
A bar cart was the perfect touch for our entry way. Grab a fresh notebook for your guests to sign in and leave their addresses (you will thank me when its time to send out those holiday cards), and leave the bottom half of the cart empty as a gift drop off area.

DIY Cocktail Bar

The DIY Cocktail Bar was one of my favorite aspects of the party. Not only is it a cute and fun drink station but also a great icebreaker to get your friends & family branching out and getting to know each other. Making the juices & syrups were super easy and gave our guests a true craft cocktail experience.

Simple Syrups

I made 4 different simple syrups for the cocktail bar.

Something herbaceous: Rosemary

Something Refreshing: Mint

Something Unique: Hibiscus

Something extra Sweet: Honey

All simple syrups are equal parts water and sugar. Heat over the stovetop until sugar (or honey) is dissolved and then add your infusion to the hot mixture to infuse for about 15-20 minutes. Make sure you are taste testing after about 10 minutes to ensure it doesn’t over infuse and become bitter.

I used oil bottles for the syrup + juices and they worked perfectly! You can find them here (& they are only $5.99)

Freshly Squeezed Juices

I used my favorite Breville Juicer to make all my favorite mixers. For the party I freshly juiced lemon, pineapple & orange. Pineapple was the house favorite. Some other great options would be grapefruit, lime, or pomegranate.

Cocktail Recipe Ideas

Some popular cocktail ideas from our party:

  • 1 oz Pineapple Juice, 1 oz Hibiscus Simple, 2 oz Tequilla, top with an edible flower
  • 1oz lemon juice, 1oz mint simple, 1oz Gin, top with a lemon wedge and mint sprig
  • 1 oz pineapple, .5oz rosemary simple, .5oz hibiscus simple, 2 oz vodka

THIS NANO NOW BRIOCHE STUFFED DONUTS WERE THE MOST AESTHETIC DESSERT. NOT TO MENTION ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS, THEY WERE A COMPLETE HIT AT THE PARTY. SINCE I WASN’T GOING FOR MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF SWEETS I WANTED TO HAVE SOMETHING THAT WAS UNIQUE AND OF HIGH QUALITY (THIS IS NO GROCERY STORE BAKED GOODIE!)

Fresh Stone Fired Pizza!

YUM! CONTRARY TO TYPICAL HOUSE WARMING PARTY FASHION, NOT ONLY WERE THERE APPETIZERS, BUT FRESH STONE FIRED PIZZA AS WELL! GIVEN GUESTS ARE CONSTANTLY IN AND OUT DURING AN EVENT LIKE THIS, PERSONAL PIZZA MADE TO ORDER WAS THE PERFECT CHOICE FOR ALL GUESTS TO ENJOY WHILE MINGLING THROUGHOUT THE DAY! WE USED WAYWARD PIZZA AND IT IS 12/10 RECOMMENDED.

~CORN HOLE WAS A HIT AS WELL AS AXE THROWING! (BUT DON’T WORRY NOT REAL AXES, A PLASTIC SET FOUND AT COSTCO!)~

Thank you gifts

IF YOU’VE NOTICED MY TREND HERE.. IT’S DOUBLING YOUR PRACTICAL PARTY MUST HAVES AS DECORATION AS WELL. I WORKED WITH JANUARY & BLOOM FLORAL TO MAKE THESE CUTE LITTLE BUD VASES FOR MY GUESTS TAKE HOME GIFTS. IT ALSO ENDED UP BEING A PHOTO OP BACKDROP WHICH WAS SUPER FUN FOR EVERYONE!

Something to remember is that a house warming party is the type of party where everything does NOT need to perfect. Your house doesn’t need to be fully decorated and finished, and you may have a few unpacked boxes stuffed in your closet. Don’t worry about going all out on decorations as your guests are there to celebrate your new chapter & see your new space. An e-vite is perfect, and showing up as you are in your current space is MORE THAN ENOUGH. You got this!
